A Journey of Light and Learning
I'm Genevieve, a self-taught deep-space astrophotographer and children's book author based in the Pacific Northwest. My work is a passionate journey through light and time, a quest to capture the breathtaking beauty of the cosmos. As a proud LGBTQ business owner, I bring my unique perspective to this field, driven by a deep passion for making STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education accessible to everyone.
Beyond the lens of my telescope, I'm a storyteller. My book series, "Aurora's Cosmic Adventures," follows the inspiring journey of a young girl named Aurora and her loyal dog, Sirius. The books are a blend of imaginative storytelling and foundational scientific concepts, turning complex topics like orbits and the day-night cycle into thrilling, easy-to-understand adventures. Designed for high read-aloud appeal, the series uses simple, engaging language that makes learning a joyful discovery.
My mission is to illuminate the universe while fostering inclusive STEAM education. I am particularly committed to serving underrepresented communities, where children may not traditionally see themselves reflected in scientific fields. Through Aurora's story, I aim to provide a vital role model, showing young readers that girls can be at the forefront of scientific discovery. As readers grow alongside Aurora, they are subtly introduced to essential skills like critical thinking, perseverance, and problem-solving, all while fostering a lifelong love for books and science.
I am dedicated to collaborating on initiatives that bring these stories and their educational messages directly to the communities that can benefit most. My goal is to create content that resonates with a diverse audience, ensuring every child feels empowered to explore their own potential among the stars. My work is more than just capturing light; it's about using that light to spark curiosity, inspire dreams, and build a more inclusive future for the next generation of explorers.
